Our Poultry Program

We love our farm and learning about the soil, vegetation, science cycles and especially our chickens. Keeping chickens has taught our kids about caring for animals, life cycles and which came first "The Chicken Or The Egg?" Whether it be hatching eggs, cleaning coops or feeding greens to our flock,  the chickens seem to be everyone's favorite feature on the farm!

We are incredibly lucky to have the support of so many! Our chickens are thankful too. They are living the good life in their little red coop, down on the farm.

Kids Who Work In The Garden

This is certainly what we are seeing at Moss Haven. In fact, the local news has noticed that as well, naming our school neighborhood  one of the top 10 Healthiest Neighborhoods in Dallas. Our farm and health initiatives are rubbing off on our kids and we are well on our way to raising a healthier generation!

If you don't see for yourself the benefits of kids who work in the garden, read the link below to see what the researchers at Cornell have learned. Gardens = Healthier Kids

We love what we are doing at our school and on our farm!

We Love Farm To Table Cooking!

Food is an experience that brings to mind memories that go with whatever is being served up. It is so fun to cook with our students! They love it too! It levels all kinds of playing fields, because everyone can be successful with cooking up good food.

In the Fall, our cooking group collected pumpkin seeds and toasted them with herbs and butter.  We ate some, but we also made extra and gave them to those who we were thankful for.

Our "Eat The Rainbow" group made healthy foods that were different colors. The yellow group made banana pancakes. Yum!

The red group made strawberry muffins. They were delicious!

We harvested poppy seeds from our poppies on the farm and made some yummy muffins!

Green Smoothies were on the menu and this group went out to the farm to find basil, spinach and kale to throw in their blenders.

After their garden harvest, these farmers made pasta salad and fruit pizzas.

Food = Happiness
Try to focus on the Healthiness too!
